one of the many things i’ve been up to is updating my portfolio. check it out : WORK. some of these are student projects, some professional, some just plain fun. woot. notice that there’s a new time-based media category, that all of the old video stuff has been moved too. the stuff in this category includes some video trailers i’ve made for Half Straddle, personal projects, and some work from my Digital Design class from last semester.
here are some new additions (click to go to page) :
i took the above video with my digital camera. the song is “Nantes” by Beirut. most of the video consists of a 45 minute giant elephant ride that Kourtney and i took. the first part of the video features a bunch of french high school students riding some prototypes for a giant marine carousel that they are planning to build.
Les Machines was created after founding artist, François Delarozière split up with Royal de Luxe, a company responsible for this shit.
the largest passenger aircraft in use is the airbus A380. and we flew it. from new york to france.
the above photo was taken at Paris Charles Du Galle airport.
from wikipedia :
The A380’s upper deck extends along the entire length of the fuselage, and its width is equivalent to that of a widebody aircraft. This allows for a cabin with 50% more floor space than the next-largest airliner, the Boeing 747-400, and provides seating for 525 people in a typical three-class configuration or up to 853 people in all-economy class configurations. The postponed freighter version, the A380-800F, is offered as one of the largest freight aircraft, with a payload capacity exceeded only by the Antonov An-225.[3] The A380-800 has a design range of 15,200 km (8,200 nmi), sufficient to fly from New York to Hong Kong for example, and a cruising speed of Mach 0.85 (about 900 km/h or 560 mph at cruising altitude).
here is a view of the plane from the tail camera, as seen on my in-flight tv monitor.
i sat right over the wing on the lower level. it was huge! and i didn’t hear any excessively loud engine noise from those massive Rolls-Royce engines.
i saw this french info-graphic at a customer service phone at Paris CDG airport. i’m really interested in the symbol in the top right corner with the two overlapping faces. it reminds me of this (check out 1:26).
i think it’s supposed to mean “meeting point.” weird.
my boyfriend nathan worked on the window displays at bergdorf goodman, which were just unveiled this week. they’re truly phenomenal. i highly suggest getting out to the store and checking them out in person. make sure to go at night.
the store is located on fifth avenue between 58th and 59th (in manhattan).
