toledo!

i went to toledo almost ten years ago when i came to spain on a high school field trip and just had to go back. this little old (stress OLD) town is by no means a tourist trap, despite the throngs of dutch folk wandering around getting sunburnt, and happened to be the home of cervantes and a whole bunch of kings of spain. here are some stunning photos (if i do say so myself) of the walled city on a hill :

where’s chris? [9e arr. a Perrache]

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

this morning i decided to take a trek out into the city center of lyon to get some information about the velo bicycles that you can rent from stations around the city, and to explore a little bit. it rained this morning and the light was superb so i brought my camera.

i took the D metro from Valmy in the 9e arrondissement to Bellecour, a big red dirt square. in the above picture, you can see Fourvière in the background (the church on the hill).

the square is home to a tourism office where i asked for a map and a gay guide, and found out that there was no way to rent the velo bikes without a european credit card.

laura threatened to commit suicide

friends,

so sorry i haven’t updated my blog in what seems like forever. i’ve been mad busy trying to get back into the swing of nyc. i’ve got a few more posts that i’m working on from lyon (including graffiti and pics from les beaux arts) so stay tuned.

until then, check out these awesome fucking photos from what i did last night. a bunch of us went to edison to see ’sangamam,’ this bollywood film that laura was (the only white person) in. it was cra-hay-zay. (in the above photo - by bj lockhart - laura’s character lisa has attempted suicide when she found out she couldn’t wed her hearthrob beau - at left - because she wasn’t indian enough).

here are my pics : http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=27902&l=957ad&id=566893918

cherry blossom festival - esplinade

today katie and i went to the cherry blossom festival at the brooklyn botanic gardens. it was awesome. our friend kate blum got us in for free and i was able to test out my digicam’s macro lens, with some great results. check out the fot’s :

the peony monument : white peony

white peony at the “peony monument.” katie loved peonies. i had a small conversation with her about how peonies got covered with ants. then i overheard some other woman talking about the same thing. these peonies weren’t covered with ants.
