webcams + fans = awesome vid

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

this awesome music video for the japanese group sour was made by their fans on webcams. it’s an amazing example of low-tech process / high-end results.

This music video was shot for Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro’ (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album ‘Water Flavor EP’. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.

Live streaming video by Ustream

xeni from boing boing writes :

Snoop Dogg has a webshow on Ustream. As I blog, it’s live right now. The show consists entirely of him sitting in a chair in his house, smoking a shit-ton of weed, and playing really good old-school music. Sometimes, singing along for a bar or two, or talking back to the chat room intermittently in Snoop-isms. Then, walking away entirely, leaving the webcam fixed on a poster of Snoop on the wall for, like, a half hour at a time. Seriously, that’s it. Where the evolutionary arc of reality TV finally ends.

i happened to be watching when snoop logged in for his ‘wake and bake show,’ and i watched the number of viewers jump from 0 to over 1,000 in literally minutes.

i know i have better things to blog about (stay tuned), but this couldn’t wait.
