DANCE & PERFORMANCE : ULTIMATE DANCE PARTY 1997
this is a solo dance that i created in my studio apartment, about 3:30 long. it can be performed to three different songs from the "ultimate dance party 1997" mix CD: 'be my lover' by labouche, nikki french's remix of 'total eclipse of the heart,' and ace of base's comeback song, 'beautiful life.' the choreography for each iteration of the piece is the same and was created to match the rhythm, dynamics and tempo of each song.
this piece was initially performed at aunts in bed stuy (images below).
it was subsequently remounted and performed at dixon place in september of 2008 and at starr space in march of 2009.
